February-March 2011 Texas Trip

Saturday, February 26th

After our day long drive to the DFW area on the 25th, we headed down to Austin to see Brandon, Steph and Ellie, their new baby. Of course, we had to indulge in BBQ as well. On our return to DFW, we drove past the Cowboy's stadium and Ranger's stadium in Arlington.

Sunday, February 27th

We stayed with Cathy's cousin, Joe and his wife, Debbie. We had a nice brunch at thr Gaylord Texan, did a little fishing and settled in for Oscar night with homemade pizzas and red cake martinis.

Monday, February 28th

Just a little shopping on this day, Bass Pro Shop and the Galleria. Two VERY different places.

Tuesday, March 1st

Then we were off to the ATC hockey tournament in Ft. Worth. We had an early game, checked in to the Hotel in downtown Ft. Worth, wandered around the Ft. Worth Water Gardens and had a great time at the Meet and Greet with all of the other hockey players from all over the place.

Wednesday, March 2nd

Day two of hockey and a walk through downtown Ft. Worth. That evening, we went to the Stockyards to check things out. We mosied through some shops and Billy Bob's, then found the Chicago gang for some dinner.

Thursday, March 3rd

Day three of hockey and we still aren't winning. We did have a good time hanging out in Billy Bob's with the ATC guys that evening though.

Friday, March 4th

The last day of hockey was a late game. We went out to the Stockyards to check out the cattle drive, then drove to Grapevine, where we found a really cool glass making shop. They blow the glass in house and teach classes there. We ended up buying a couple of very interesting pieces. After that, we were back at the rink for more hockey. This game was against the LA Center guys so it was especially fun for Joe, even though they lost again. That evening was the closing banquet where the Chicago Team collected the last place cup.
