October 2008
The first weekend in October is the Autumn on Parade weekend in Oregon, IL. There are all kinds of activities, including a GREAT car show. Cathy's Corvair took home a big trophy for "Best Restored Paint"
We had one last warm weekend in October with a trip to Williams Bay, WI , on Lake Geneva. After the water fun,
we went to a pumpkin patch and picked out a few pumpkins.
Dani!
Here we are carving a couple of those pumpkins.
Pumpkinfest weekend in Sycamore kicked off with the delivery of the pumpkins to the Courthouse lawn. I am always amazed at the creativity shown there.
Joe's birthday arrived during Pumpkinfest weekend this year.
Sycamore Middle School's Jazz Strings performed at the Music Booster's Autmn Craft and Treasures Market
and, as usual, Mr. Pumpkin honored us with a visit.
Sunday was the Pumpkinfest Parade
day. Brittany came out for a visit, we had a bunch of people over for
lunch, and then we all went down to watch the parade.

Just before Halloween, Cathy and Joe made a trip to Phoenix. We visited Janis and watched Kalli run in a Cross
Country meet and had some dinner.
Dan, Cathy and Sara had a surprise for Joe for his birthday.
We went up to see Margaret in Clarkdale and then made a trip through Sedona. We were there on Halloween night,
just as the town came out and trick or treated through the shops.
Saturday morning, we made a trip back to Sedona through the Oak Creek Canyon. What
a BEAUTIFUL drive! The leaves were perfect and the weather was great. The picture of the GPS shows some of the
cutbacks through the mountains and the following pictures show that road from an overlook above.
Here is the real reason we made the trip out to AZ this time of year. We went to
see Northern Arizona University's Band Day. High School Bands from around the area compete in a marching competition.
Sara's school, Mountain Ridge, took every award that was available to them. Chris marched with the NAU band. It
was incredible
