July 2008

On July 4th, Dani and Lydia, Joe and Cathy, hit Lake Wal-mart again to enjoy the fireworks show.

Later that weekend, Joe went up to Kingston to check out their annual car show.

With the latest "Batman" movie out, there were two of the cars from the movie

parked outside our local theater. It seems many of the movie cars come from this area

and these were local Sycamore cars.

Joe, Cathy, Dani and Lydia were off to Minnesota for a few days as well. We had a little shopping time at the Mall of America.....

Went to New Ulm and checked out the Schell's Brewery and stayed with Bernie and Jerry.......

And then off to Rochester to have lunch with Donna......

Followed up with a trip to the Lanesboro area and some camping along the Root River. The biking is wonderful with 60 miles of bike paths through the bluffs along the river. We also floated down the Root River in tubes but we didn't have a camera to capture that fun.

Here are a few pictures on an ominous storm that rolled through Sycamore one evening.

Cathy's Corvair entered the Culver's car show this month.

Dani's big purchase was this Laguna acoustic guitar from Guitar Center. It sounds great and she is catching on to this instrument quickly as well.

She didn't have much time with her new guitar as she was off to Arizona to stay with Uncle Dan, Aunt Cathy and Cousins Sara and Chris. The made a trip up to Clarkdale to visit Margaret and check out Jerome, Grandpa Frank's hometown.

Joe and Cathy finally made it out to the golf course with a round at The Oaks in Genoa.

Sycamore's car show weekend was a blast this year with our first chance to participate in the cruise night on Saturday. Over 100 cars were on display and many of them took off on a cruise around the area with passes through the airport and some local nursing homes. Excess tire smoke and a good band rounded out the evening.

Sunday brought us the annual "Turnin' Back Time" car show in downtown Sycamore. As you can see, it was a beautiful day and there were over 700 cars that came in for the day. We asked the production company how we fared in the voting, here was the response :

Joe,
Thanks for asking. You finished # 172 out of a total of 704. You were
one of 15 entrys that received 18 votes. The cut-off point for award winners
was 26 votes. All things considered, a good showing for the Corvair !!!!
Hope to see you somewhere soon !!! David <info@3dsound.org>

The final show of the month took us to Augustino's in the western 'burbs. They were featuring converts so we took the Mustang Cobra.
